AM Ghazanfar

Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar, also known as AM Ghazanfar, is a rising young cricketer from Afghanistan, born on March 20, 2006, in Paktia Province. Originally a fast bowler, he transitioned into a right-arm off-break spinner under the coaching guidance of former Afghanistan captain Dawlat Ahmadzai. Ghazanfar’s bowling has drawn comparisons to renowned Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman due to his skillful off-spin and control.

He made his professional debut with the Mis Ainak Knights in Afghanistan's Shpageeza Cricket League, where he quickly made a mark by taking key wickets, including a four-wicket haul early in his career. Ghazanfar also played in the Pakistan Junior League and was signed by Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 Indian Premier League as a replacement player. Despite being young, he impressively delivered a six-wicket haul against Bangladesh in an ODI in November 2024, which remains one of the best bowling figures against Bangladesh for Afghanistan.

He played an important role in Afghanistan's Under-19 World Cup campaign and has been a consistent wicket-taker in emerging tournaments, including the Emerging Asia Cup where he won Player of the Match awards. Ghazanfar is known for his consistency, economical bowling, and ability to pick wickets in crucial phases. At 6 feet 2 inches tall, his physical presence and skill set make him a promising talent for Afghanistan's future in international cricket.
