Fazalhaq Farooqi

Fazalhaq Farooqi, born on September 22, 2000, is an Afghan international cricketer who has made a name for himself in the world of cricket. Farooqi plays for the Afghan national team in all formats of the game and has also represented various franchise teams in leagues around the world.

Farooqi's cricketing journey began with his first-class debut for Amo Region in the 2017–18 Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-day Tournament. He quickly made his way up the ranks, earning a spot in Afghanistan's under-23 team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup. Farooqi's talent and potential were evident, and he soon made his Twenty20 debut for Boost Defenders in the 2019 Shpageeza Cricket League.

In December 2019, Farooqi was named in Afghanistan's squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, further solidifying his status as a rising star in Afghan cricket. His hard work and dedication paid off when he made his international debut for Afghanistan in March 2021, playing in the Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Zimbabwe. Farooqi's impressive performances in the T20I series earned him a call-up to the One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Pakistan in July 2021.

Farooqi's success has not been limited to the international stage. He has also made a mark in franchise leagues around the world, including the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Lanka Premier League (LPL). In 2022, Farooqi was bought by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auction, showcasing his value as a young and talented cricketer.

Despite facing a setback in December 2022 when his contract with the Sydney Thunder was terminated following an investigation into a behavioral incident, Farooqi remains a promising talent in Afghan cricket.
