Rahmanullah Gurbaz

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, born on 28 November 2001, is a talented Afghan cricketer who made his international debut for Afghanistan in September 2019. Hailing from the Gurbaz tribe of Afghanistan, Gurbaz created history in January 2021 by becoming the first Afghan batsman to score a century on debut in a One Day International (ODI) match against Ireland. His exceptional talent was recognized early on, leading to his inclusion in Afghanistan's squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in December 2017.

Gurbaz's impressive performances continued as he emerged as the leading run-scorer for Afghanistan in the 2018 ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, showcasing his batting prowess with 117 runs in four matches. His skills were further highlighted when he was named in Afghanistan's under-23 team for the 2018 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in December 2018. Gurbaz's consistency and potential earned him a spot in Afghanistan's Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for the 2019–20 Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series, where he made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in September 2019.

In January 2021, Gurbaz's remarkable journey continued as he was selected in Afghanistan's One Day International (ODI) squad for the series against Ireland. His ODI debut against Ireland was nothing short of spectacular, as he scored a brilliant 127 runs, becoming the first Afghan player and the 16th overall to achieve a century on ODI debut. Gurbaz's exceptional performances earned him a spot in Afghanistan's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in September 2021 and the 2023 ODI Cricket World Cup in September 2023, solidifying his position as a key player in Afghanistan's cricketing landscape.
