Sufiyan Muqeem

Sufiyan Muqeem, born on November 15, 1999, in Baithak Balouch, Azad Kashmir, is a left-arm wrist-spin bowler who represents the Pakistan national cricket team. He started his cricket journey with tape-ball cricket in his hometown before moving to Rawalpindi to pursue professional cricket due to the lack of facilities in his region. After excelling in club and domestic cricket, he gained recognition for his performances with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League and the Pakistan A team. In July 2023, he played a key role in Pakistan A's victory over India A in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup final, taking 3/66. Muqeem made his T20I debut for Pakistan during the Asian Games in October 2023 and later delivered a record-breaking performance against Zimbabwe in December 2024, taking 5 wickets for just 3 runs, equaling the world record for the least runs conceded in a five-wicket haul.

Known for his accuracy and ability to deceive batsmen, Muqeem has quickly established himself as a promising spinner in international cricket. Despite undergoing knee surgery in January 2024, he returned strongly to represent Pakistan Shaheens and the national team. His remarkable achievements, including his historic spell against Zimbabwe and consistent performances across formats, make him one of the most exciting young talents in Pakistan cricket today.
