Rajeshwari Gayakwad is an elite left-arm orthodox spinner and a veteran of the Indian national side, known for her impeccable control and 'flight-and-spin' mastery. Born on June 1, 1991, in Bijapur, Karnataka, she has long been a go-to breakthrough bowler for India, famously holding the record for the best bowling figures by an Indian in a Women’s World Cup (5/15). Her 2025 season was a testament to her enduring skill; she played a vital role in the domestic circuit for the Central Zone and featured in the Indian squad during their high-intensity home series against Sri Lanka in December 2025. With nearly 100 ODI wickets and over 60 T20I scalps to her name, Gayakwad remains one of the most technically sound spinners in the world, capable of choking the run rate even on the flat surfaces of the modern game.

During the 2026 Women’s Premier League mega auction in late 2025, Rajeshwari moved to a new home as she was signed by the Gujarat Giants for ₹40 lakh. Her addition is a key component of the Giants' strategy to build an experienced Indian core to support their overseas stars. Within the squad, she is expected to form a formidable spin partnership with Australia’s Georgia Wareham and the reliable Tanuja Kanwer. As she gears up for the 2026 season starting in January, Gayakwad brings a wealth of international experience and 'big-match' temperament to a revamped Gujarat side, serving as a tactical mentor for the younger bowlers and a primary weapon in their pursuit of a maiden title.
