Tanuja Kanwer is a resilient left-arm orthodox spinner and lower-order batter who has become the 'reliable engine' of the Gujarat Giants' bowling department. Born on January 28, 1998, in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, she made history in 2023 by taking the very first wicket in WPL history. Her 2025 season was a period of professional elevation; she maintained her reputation as a 'partnership breaker' for the Giants in the early WPL season and later earned her spot in the Indian national setup, featuring in the ODI series against Ireland in January 2025. Known for her disciplined lines and ability to handle high-pressure death overs, she has transitioned from a domestic stalwart for Railways to a vital international asset for India.

The late 2025 WPL mega auction underscored her importance to the Gujarat Giants, who used their Right-to-Match (RTM) card to bring her back for ₹45 lakh. Her return to the franchise ensures that the Giants retain their most consistent domestic performer, having appeared in nearly every match for the team since the league's inception. For the 2026 season starting in January, Tanuja is expected to lead the spin attack alongside Australian star Georgia Wareham and veteran Rajeshwari Gayakwad. As a player who can provide crucial cameos with the bat and elite control with the ball, she remains a cornerstone of the Giants' rebuild as they chase their first championship title.
