Dunith Wellalage

Dunith Nethmika Wellalage, born on January 9, 2003, is a talented Sri Lankan cricketer known for his prowess as a left-arm orthodox bowler. He currently plays ODI cricket for the Sri Lankan national team, having made his international debut in June 2022. Wellalage received his education at St. Sebastian's College in Moratuwa and St. Joseph's College in Colombo.

Wellalage's cricketing journey began with his List A debut for Lankan Cricket Club in December 2019 during the 2019-20 Invitation Limited Over Tournament. His skills were recognized when he was signed by the Jaffna Kings for the Lanka Premier League and later by Fortune Barishal in the Bangladesh Premier League.

Internationally, Wellalage captained Sri Lanka's team in the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he showcased exceptional talent. He emerged as a standout performer, scoring a century in the Super League playoff semi-final match against South Africa and finishing as the leading wicket-taker in the tournament with seventeen dismissals. Wellalage's impressive performances earned him a spot in the Sri Lanka Emerging Team's squad for their tour to England in April 2022, where he continued to excel in various formats of the game.
