Jeffrey Dexter Francis Vandersay, born on February 5, 1990, in Wattala, Sri Lanka, is a professional cricketer known for his right-arm leg-spin bowling and useful lower-order batting. Vandersay made his T20 International debut for Sri Lanka against Pakistan in July 2015 and his One Day International debut against New Zealand in December 2015. Vandersay is noted for his key role in Sri Lanka’s spin attack, especially in limited-overs matches.
One of Vandersay’s career highlights came in August 2024 during an ODI against India, where he bowled a remarkable spell taking 6 wickets for 33 runs, becoming the first bowler to take the first six wickets of an innings in an ODI, and playing a pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s victory. He has also played for several domestic sides such as Sinhalese Sports Club and participated in the Lanka Premier League. Vandersay made his Test debut in January 2025 against Australia, where he contributed both with the ball and showcased his aggressive batting, scoring a quickfire half-century. Known for his leg-spin skills and fighting spirit, Vandersay remains a valuable asset to Sri Lankan cricket.
