Kamindu Mendis

Kamindu Mendis, born on September 30, 1998, in Galle, Sri Lanka, is a professional cricketer known for his unique ambidextrous bowling skills. He bowls both left-arm orthodox spin and right-arm off-break, often in the same over, showcasing his exceptional talent and versatility. Mendis started developing his ambidextrous bowling at the age of 13 while playing for Richmond College, Galle.

Mendis made his international debut for Sri Lanka in October 2018 in a T20I against England. He has since represented his country in all three formats of the game, making his ODI debut against South Africa in March 2019 and his Test debut against Australia in July 2022. Mendis has been a valuable asset to the Sri Lankan team, contributing with both bat and ball. In March 2019, he scored his maiden Test fifty and made a match-winning partnership of 133 runs with centurion Dinesh Chandimal, helping Sri Lanka secure their first innings victory against Australia in Test cricket.

Domestically, Mendis has played for various teams, including Galle, Colombo, Kandy Falcons, and Sylhet Strikers. He was the leading wicket-taker in the 2019-20 Invitation Limited Over Tournament, with nineteen dismissals in eight matches. Mendis' unique bowling skills and potential have impressed coaches and fans alike, and he continues to be a promising young talent in Sri Lankan cricket.
