Pathum Nissanka

Pathum Nissanka, born on May 18, 1998, in Galle, Sri Lanka, is a promising young cricketer who has quickly established himself as a key player in the Sri Lankan national team. Despite facing financial challenges during his childhood, Nissanka pursued his passion for cricket and made his domestic debut for Hambantota District in 2017. He continued to impress in domestic cricket, representing various teams such as Badureliya Sports Club, Kandy, and Colombo Stars in the Lanka Premier League.

Nissanka's international career began in March 2021 when he made his debut for Sri Lanka across all three formats. He quickly made an impact, scoring his maiden Test century against West Indies in 2021 and his first ODI century against Australia later that year. In February 2024, Nissanka etched his name in the history books by becoming the first Sri Lankan to score an ODI double century. His unbeaten knock of 210 against Afghanistan is the highest individual score by a Sri Lankan in ODIs and the fifth-highest in the format's history. Nissanka's achievement is even more remarkable as it came in just 136 balls, making it the third-fastest double century in ODI cricket.
