Sadeera Samarawickrama

Sadeera Samarawickrama is a dynamic right-handed wicketkeeper-batsman known for his aggressive approach and free-scoring stroke play. He had a terrific U-19 World Cup in 2014 where he scored over 250 runs in 6 games, showcasing his potential early on. Samarawickrama's strong domestic performances in the 2016-17 season forced the selectors to take notice, and he finally made his debut for the Sri Lankan national team in 2017, getting the opportunity in all three formats of the game.

Samarawickrama's international career has been marked by both highs and lows. He became the third batsman after Sachin Tendulkar and Kane Williamson to be dismissed for a duck in his first two ODI innings. However, he has also shown his ability to perform at the highest level, scoring a maiden Test century against Ireland in 2023, becoming the first Sri Lankan wicket-keeper to score a ton since 2016. Samarawickrama's score of 104 runs was also the highest by a Sri Lankan player batting at number 8 or lower in Tests.

Despite the ups and downs, Samarawickrama remains a valuable asset to the Sri Lankan team. His versatility as a wicket-keeper-batsman and his ability to adapt to different situations make him a useful player in all three formats.
