Shoriful Islam

Shoriful Islam is a left-arm fast-medium bowler from Bangladesh who has developed into an important part of the national pace attack across formats. Born on June 3, 2001, he first gained widespread attention as a member of Bangladesh’s victorious 2020 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup squad before progressing rapidly into senior international cricket. His height, left-arm angle and ability to generate movement make him a particularly useful option with the new ball.

Shoriful made his senior international breakthrough in 2021 and soon established himself as a regular option for Bangladesh in Tests, ODIs and T20Is. He is capable of swinging the ball early, using cutters and changes of pace when conditions demand, and attacking batters with short-pitched deliveries. His naturally aggressive approach and ability to create a different angle from the majority of right-arm seamers have helped him provide balance to Bangladesh’s bowling combinations.
