Derni Bangi (Derni Viji Bangi) is a dynamic and aggressive right-handed opening batter who has been a trailblazer and cornerstone of the Indonesian women’s national cricket team. As one of the most explosive and recognizable power-hitters in Associate cricket, she has been a fixture at the top of the order since making her international debut in January 2019 against Hong Kong. Known for her fearless intent, clean strike rate, and ability to dismantle bowling attacks right from the powerplay, she plays a vital role in setting the tone and putting immediate pressure on the opposition.
Her career is decorated with landmark achievements, headlined by becoming the first-ever Indonesian woman to score an international century, a magnificent 114 against Mongolia. A veteran of over 50 T20 Internationals, Bangi has accumulated nearly 1,000 international runs and contributed crucial wickets with her occasional medium-pace bowling. Her standout performances have also earned her global acclaim, including being named the ICC Women's Player of the Month in May 2023. As Indonesia continues its ascent on the global stage and competes in prestigious multi-nation events like the Women's Asia Cup, Bangi's explosive batting and match-winning pedigree remain essential to the team's ambitions.
