Chethana Vimukthi

Aluth Gedara Chethana Vimukthi is a highly talented, dynamic right-arm medium-fast bowler and handy lower-order right-handed batter who represents one of the most promising young fast-bowling prospects emerging within Sri Lanka’s women's cricket setup. Born on January 10, 2002, in Badulla, she honed her skills through the country’s regional and domestic pathways, notably turning heads for Panadura Sports Club. Standing out as a modern, skidding seamer in a landscape traditionally dominated by spin, Vimukthi’s ability to hit tight hard lengths and generate natural, deceptive pace fast-tracked her senior international debut during Sri Lanka’s multi-format tour of New Zealand in March 2025.

Vimukthi permanently vaulted into the global spotlight ahead of the 2026 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in England and Wales. Initially called into the touring reserves, she was officially drafted into the main 15-member World Cup squad following a late injury to spinner Shashini Gimhani.
