West Indies tour of India T20I Series, 2026

India and West Indies are set to renew their rivalry in the shortest format with a five-match T20I series beginning on 6 October 2026 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. Following the three-match ODI leg of the tour, attention shifts to T20 cricket as both teams look to make their mark in a contest spread across five Indian cities. The opening encounter is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM IST, with subsequent matches taking place in Ranchi (9 October), Indore (11 October), Hyderabad (14 October), and Bengaluru (17 October).

India enter the series with Shreyas Iyer leading their T20I squad, which features an exciting combination of established internationals and emerging talent. Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Shivam Dube and Arshdeep Singh are among the players named in the squad, providing options across batting, wicketkeeping, all-round contributions and pace bowling. Washington Sundar has been withdrawn from the T20I squad to focus on red-ball cricket, with Naman Dhir named as his replacement. The five-match contest offers India an opportunity to assess combinations and build consistency across different playing conditions ahead of their upcoming international assignments.

West Indies, meanwhile, will look to challenge the hosts with their characteristic aggressive approach to T20 cricket. With players such as Shai Hope, Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Sherfane Rutherford, Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosein featuring in the announced squad, the visitors have a combination of batting firepower, all-round versatility and spin options at their disposal. The series presents an opportunity for West Indies to test their combinations against India away from home, while the hosts will aim to make full use of familiar conditions. With five matches scheduled across Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru, both sides will need to adapt quickly as the contest progresses towards its conclusion on 17 October.
