Lockie Ferguson

Lockie Ferguson is a New Zealand right-arm fast bowler renowned for his express pace and ability to unsettle batters with short-pitched deliveries and attacking lines. He made his international debut in 2016 and rose to prominence during the 2019 ODI World Cup, claiming 21 wickets in nine matches to finish as New Zealand’s leading wicket-taker in the tournament. Ferguson has since built a strong reputation in international and franchise T20 cricket, using his speed to challenge batters even on surfaces that offer limited assistance to fast bowlers. His aggressive approach, coupled with his ability to generate steep bounce, makes him a dangerous opponent across the white-ball formats.

Ferguson’s experience and wicket-taking instincts add considerable firepower to New Zealand’s pace attack. After injury setbacks interrupted parts of his career, he returned to the international setup in 2026 and was selected for the latter stages of New Zealand’s upcoming ODI series against India. His ability to bowl rapid spells, attack the stumps and force batters into hurried decisions gives him an important role in high-pressure situations. For fantasy cricket, Ferguson can be a valuable selection because of his potential to pick up wickets in clusters, particularly during the powerplay and at the death. His recent workload, fitness and confirmed place in the playing XI are worth checking before finalising a team.
