Matt Henry

Matt Henry is a New Zealand right-arm fast-medium bowler recognised for his accuracy, late swing and ability to deliver breakthroughs with the new ball. He made his international debut in 2014 and gradually established himself as a dependable member of the Black Caps’ pace attack across formats. Henry has been particularly effective in limited-overs cricket, where his disciplined lines and subtle changes of pace help him challenge batters during the powerplay and restrict scoring opportunities. His performances in major ICC tournaments, including the 2019 ODI World Cup, highlighted his composure under pressure and knack for delivering when the stakes are high.

Henry’s experience and consistency make him an important bowling option for New Zealand, especially when the conditions offer movement through the air or off the pitch. He combines an attacking mindset with the control needed to maintain pressure across different phases of an innings, while his ability to execute yorkers and slower balls adds value at the death. His familiarity with international cricket and different playing conditions also allows him to adapt his approach according to the opposition. For fantasy cricket, Henry is worth considering for his new-ball wicket potential and ability to strike at crucial moments, particularly on pitches that assist seam bowling.
