Mitchell Santner

Mitchell Santner is a New Zealand left-arm orthodox spinner and left-handed batting all-rounder valued for his control, tactical awareness and ability to contribute in pressure situations. Since making his international debut in 2015, he has developed into one of the Black Caps’ most dependable white-ball performers, using subtle variations in pace and flight to restrict scoring and create wicket-taking opportunities. Santner is also a capable lower-order batter who can stabilise an innings or provide a late burst of runs when required. His consistent performances in major tournaments, including the 2025 Champions Trophy, have reinforced his importance to the national side, while his calm temperament has earned him leadership responsibilities across limited-overs cricket.

As New Zealand’s white-ball captain, Santner brings strategic flexibility and valuable experience to a team that relies on contributions from several all-rounders. His economical left-arm spin is particularly useful during the middle overs, where he can force batters to take risks, while his batting adds depth to the lineup. He is also an agile fielder who regularly contributes through sharp catches and athletic work in the field. For fantasy cricket, Santner offers multiple avenues for points through wickets, useful runs and fielding contributions. His value increases on surfaces that assist spin, especially when he is expected to bowl his full quota and bat in a position that provides opportunities to make an impact.
