Mitchell Starc

For the Australia–South Africa ODI series, Mitchell Starc returns to Australia’s squad after being rested for the recent Zimbabwe tour. The left-arm fast bowler remains one of Australia’s most experienced white-ball quicks and brings the ability to generate pace, swing and bounce with the new ball. Starc was included specifically for the South Africa leg of Australia’s six-match ODI preparation ahead of the 2027 World Cup, alongside Pat Cummins.

Starc’s ability to strike early and attack the stumps makes him a major weapon during the powerplay, while his yorkers and variations allow him to remain effective at the death. His left-arm angle also gives Australia a different challenge for opposition batters compared with their right-arm pace options. With the Zimbabwe series completed, Starc now returns for the three-match South Africa assignment beginning September 24.
