The India tour of Sri Lanka Test Series 2026 begins on 15 August at the Galle International Cricket Stadium, with the second and final Test scheduled from 23 to 27 August at the Singhalese Sports Club in Colombo. Both matches are part of the 2025–27 ICC World Test Championship, adding valuable points and greater significance to the two-match contest. The tour will also be India’s first Test series in Sri Lanka since 2017.
Sri Lanka will look to use their home conditions effectively, with spin bowling expected to play an important role as the pitches deteriorate. Their batters must build patient partnerships and avoid losing wickets in clusters against India’s varied bowling attack. Familiarity with the conditions at Galle and Colombo could give the hosts an advantage, particularly during the later stages of each Test.
India will enter the series with a strong and balanced squad capable of competing in different conditions. Their batters will face a demanding examination against Sri Lanka’s spinners, while India’s own slow bowlers could become decisive as the matches progress. With World Test Championship points at stake and both teams possessing match-winning players, the series promises an absorbing contest of technique, patience and tactical skill.
