Eshan Malinga

Eshan Malinga Dharmasena is a high-velocity right-arm fast-medium bowler who has quickly emerged as one of Sri Lanka’s most exciting pace prospects. Born on February 4, 2001, in Ratnapura, he is often noted for sharing a famous surname, though he is not related to the legendary Lasith Malinga. Eshan’s rise was fueled by his consistent performances for Ragama Cricket Club and the Sri Lanka 'A' side, where his ability to generate raw pace and bounce caught the eye of national selectors. He made his international debut in an ODI against New Zealand in January 2025, and by late 2025, he had successfully transitioned into the T20I squad, making his debut against Zimbabwe.

In the 2025-2026 season, Malinga's career reached new heights as he became a sought-after talent in global franchise cricket. He made a significant impact in the IPL for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who secured him for a substantial ₹1.20 crore; he justified the price tag by claiming 13 wickets in his debut season and was subsequently retained for the 2026 edition. His versatility has also been on display in the SA20 with the Paarl Royals and the LPL with the Jaffna Kings.
