Joel Davies
Joel Davies is a promising left-arm orthodox spinner who has earned his maiden ODI call-up for Australia’s three-match series against Zimbabwe. The 22-year-old New South Wales and Sydney Sixers player made his international debut in T20Is earlier in 2026 and immediately made an impact, taking 3/17 against Bangladesh. He was one of the young players Australia selected as part of their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup, with the Zimbabwe tour providing an opportunity to assess him in 50-over cricket.
Davies brings control and variation to Australia’s bowling options, with his slow left-arm orthodox deliveries capable of creating pressure through the middle overs. His ability to contribute with the bat also adds flexibility, although his primary value at this stage is expected to come with the ball. Playing in Harare will give him valuable exposure to conditions where spin could become an important factor as the innings progresses. For fantasy cricket, Davies is an intriguing differential pick because his wicket-taking potential could make him a useful contributor if he earns a place in the playing XI and gets a substantial bowling role.
