Craig Ervine
For the Australia ODI series, Craig Ervine brings considerable experience and stability to Zimbabwe’s batting lineup. The left-handed top-order batter has been a key figure in Zimbabwe cricket for many years and has also captained the side in the past. He made his ODI debut against India in 2010 and was Zimbabwe’s standout batter at the 2011 World Cup, where he scored 231 runs in the tournament.Ervine is part of Zimbabwe’s 15-member squad for the three ODIs against Australia in Harare, scheduled for September 15, 18 and 20.
Ervine’s value comes from his ability to occupy the crease, build partnerships and control the pace of an innings from the top order. His left-handed batting adds variety to Zimbabwe’s lineup, while his extensive international experience can be particularly important against Australia’s quality attack. Having already shown that he can perform on the big stage, Ervine will be expected to provide a steady platform for Zimbabwe’s younger batters. For fantasy cricket, he is an experienced batting option who can offer strong value if he converts a start into a substantial score.
