Crishan Kalugamage

Crishan Kalugamage is a right-arm leg-spinner who has become one of Italy's key wicket-taking options in T20 cricket. He relies on turn, changes of pace and a well-used googly to challenge batters through the middle overs, where his role is often to break partnerships rather than simply contain.

Kalugamage made his T20I debut for Italy in 2022 and was part of the country's historic first appearance at the 2026 T20 World Cup. At that tournament he produced a standout spell of 3 for 18 against Nepal, underlining his ability to succeed under pressure on the international stage.

Leg-spin remains one of the most valuable skills in T20 cricket because it offers wicket-taking potential even when batters are attacking. Kalugamage's willingness to toss the ball up and vary his pace gives Italy a genuine middle-overs threat, particularly on surfaces that offer grip.
