Gavin Hoey

Gavin Hoey is a right-arm leg-spinner and useful right-handed batter who has emerged as an important option in Ireland's developing white-ball setup. In T20 cricket he looks to attack through flight, turn and changes of pace, giving captains a wicket-taking spinner for the middle overs.

Hoey has progressed through Leinster Lightning and Ireland's pathway system into senior international cricket. His domestic T20 performances, including economical spells and regular wickets, helped establish his reputation before he became increasingly involved with Ireland's senior squads.

His leg-spin gives Ireland a valuable tactical dimension because it can be used against both right- and left-handed batters with different plans. Hoey can also contribute useful lower-order runs, and continued exposure to high-level T20 cricket should further sharpen his control and matchup awareness.
