Akeal Hosein

Akeal Hosein is a left-arm orthodox spinner who has been named in the West Indies squad for the five-match T20I series against India. The Trinidadian has established himself as one of the Caribbean side’s experienced limited-overs bowlers, particularly valued for his control during the powerplay and middle overs. Hosein has considerable international T20 experience and has also featured in major franchise competitions, giving him familiarity with different conditions and batting styles. His ability to keep the scoring rate under control while searching for wickets makes him an important part of the West Indies bowling combination.

Hosein relies on changes of pace, accuracy and subtle variations in flight to make life difficult for batters, with his left-arm angle particularly useful against right-handed-heavy batting lineups. He can be introduced early to restrict scoring or retained for the middle overs when partnerships need to be broken. With the T20I series moving through Lucknow, Ranchi, Indore, Hyderabad and Bengaluru from October 6 to 17, his experience could prove useful across contrasting conditions. For fantasy cricket, Hosein offers wicket-taking potential alongside the possibility of economical bowling points, making him a useful spin option when the pitch is expected to assist slower bowlers.
