Kamil Pooran
Kamil Pooran is a right-handed opening batter who has earned his maiden T20I call-up for the West Indies’ five-match series against India. The young batter forced his way into the national setup after an impressive Caribbean Premier League 2026 campaign, where he scored 273 runs in eight innings at a strike rate of 159.64 and averaged 39. His ability to provide quick starts has made him an exciting addition to a West Indies side looking to develop its next generation of T20 players. Pooran’s selection is also part of the team’s longer-term preparations for the 2028 T20 World Cup.
Pooran’s aggressive approach at the top of the order allows him to put pressure on bowlers during the powerplay, while his scoring rate gives the West Indies an option capable of shifting the momentum early in an innings. His CPL performances suggest he can combine boundary-hitting with enough consistency to build meaningful scores when he gets through the opening phase. He will now have the opportunity to carry that franchise form onto the international stage, with the T20I series against India beginning in Lucknow on October 6. For fantasy cricket, his opening role and attacking intent make him an interesting differential option, particularly if he is handed a place in the playing XI.
